Important Update on iOS 16 Issues

9/21/2022, 4:45 p.m. ET

Although Appleā€™s September 12th release of iOS 16 fixed issues related to iMessages, FaceTime calls, and message bubble colors, we found after extensive testing, that three aftermarket screen builds were affected by the software update:

iPhone 11 Pro Max Soft OLED (MDAP2167) - Intermittent touch issues

iPhone 12 Pro Max Hard OLED (MDAP2727) - Blackouts

iPhone 13 Mini CHOICE Incell (MDAP3118) - Intermittent touch issues

As soon as the issues were found, these products were disabled in the Mobile Defenders catalog. Our manufacturer was able to pinpoint the issue and implement a patch within a couple days, and on Monday, September 19th, less than a week later, our stock was replenished with functioning display assemblies.

If you have stock of these products, they can be returned for credit and repurchased with the latest firmware update installed. This update provides a patch that corrects the issue.

Thank you for your patience as our team worked tirelessly to find a solution for you. We will continue to monitor the situation.

The Mobile Defenders team has been rigorously working to provide a solution to the screen blackouts occurring on iPhone 12 Pro Max Hard OLED displays and inconsistent touch issues occurring on the iPhone 11 Pro Max Soft OLED displays resulting from the iOS 16 update.

The cause of these issues have been pinpointed by our manufacturer and a patch has been developed. We expect iPhone 12 Pro Max Hard OLED displays and iPhone 11 Pro Max Soft OLED displays to be back in stock early next week. Please take note that all other Mobile Defenders screen lines for these models were unaffected by the iOS update and are available on mobiledefenders.com.

This is still a developing situation and we're working tirelessly to provide a permanent solution. More details to come.

Following the release of iOS 16, our Product Quality Technicians performed routine tests and found screen blackouts and inconsistent touch issues on some models after updating to the latest software. The issue affects our iPhone 12 Pro Max (CHOICE - Hard OLED) and iPhone 11 Pro Max (SELECT - Soft OLED) product lines. We have disabled these products (MDAP2727 and MDAP2167) until the issue is resolved.
