Tech's Choice: July

In any industry, there are tips and tricks that you pick up along the way. For the mobile repair industry, this really depends on where you are, who you talk to, and what devices you normally work on. That’s why we asked our techs for some of their favorite underappreciated tools that make everyday repairs a little bit easier.

Urian

Rubber Dust Blower

When devices come in, they can be incredibly dirty. All the lint and skin cells from the owner can build up in unwanted places. That's why Urian loves using the Rubber Dust Blower.

"The rubber dust blower is a great tool to keep around in case of dirty phones. Since it has a precise metal tip, you can get in close to the area you want to clean and still be certain that you won't blow your screws away by accident. I used to just blow on phones when I repaired them, but after I started thinking about all the spit that I was transferring from my mouth to my customers' devices, I immediately picked up one of these blowers. It's more sanitary, and for me, it doubles as a stress ball!"

Safety Glasses

Repairing a chipped or broken screen can be incredibly dangerous. That’s why Urian enjoys using these safety glasses.

“I’ve been hit in the eye by a piece of glass before, and let me tell you, it’s not very fun. That’s why I started using these safety glasses whenever I open a device with a cracked screen. It’s better to be safe than to risk losing an eye. These are lightweight and fit like sunglasses, so they don’t even get in the way when you perform a repair. I'd definitely consider these a necessity.”

Mike

Microfiber Cloths

These microfiber cloths can be a huge hit in the summer. That’s why Mike loves them.

“Every shop should have a few microfiber cloths, but in the summer, it’s a good idea to give them out to customers with a repair. Since the sun is out, people are more likely to notice how dirty their phones are. A microfiber is a nice little add on to give a customer. It helps make them feel like their repair is high-quality.”

TESA Tape

TESA Tape can really help out in just about any repair, especially when you need a heavy-duty adhesive.

“I’d definitely consider TESA Tape to be the best double sided repair tape on the market. You can use it in a single layer on thinner repairs, and even bulk up to a few more layers for Samsung or Motorola devices.”

We hope you find these tips helpful! Check back next month for more great ideas from our techs.
